Builders Call Spring 2022: Farmington Faith Church

Builders Call Spring 2022: Farmington Faith Church

“Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated
as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.” – John 6:11

The mission of Faith Church in Farmington, MN is “to serve and care for the community as we work to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ and grow together in relationship with God and with our neighbors.” As a congregation, they are learning every day what it means to be disciples of Christ and share God’s unconditional love with others. They want to make it known to their community that faith is something that goes beyond Sunday mornings.

When the local grocery closed in December 2019, Faith Church and its members stepped up to provide a free weekly meal, Loaves and Fishes, for those in need. What started as serving about 75 people weekly grew to serving between 200-250 each Wednesday as the pandemic put even more stressors on the community. Not only has this meal served a need in their community, but several unchurched volunteers who help serve the meal and those who receive the meal have become active in the ministry of Faith Church. In January 2022, half of the new members who joined the church were involved with the Loaves and Fishes meal.
In addition to serving the Loaves and Fishes meal, the church also hosts several small group ministries and annual events, such as the annual Harvest Dinner, that require use of the kitchen. The existing kitchen is outdated and was not built or equipped to handle the weekly large group use that it now sees. Faith Church plans to reconfigure the layout of the kitchen to make it more efficient, during which they will replace the old counters and tables with stainless steel ones, install a new 3-sink system, and update the cupboards. The priority of their project is to create a kitchen that will continue to serve their many ministries and community outreach efforts for years to come.

Faith Church is committed to serving and caring for their community through their many ministries. “These updates will allow the congregation to continue serving the community and reaching new people through kitchen ministries well into the future,” says Scott Evenson, project coordinator at Faith Church.

We are so grateful for your continued support of the MN UM Builders and ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to support Faith Church. The gifts for this call will be received until September 30, 2022.

Blooming Grove UMC thanks you . . . $6,000 granted!
Thank you to MN United Methodist Builders for the generous grant given to Blooming Grove UMC - to be used to help pay construction costs of a new south addition on the front of our church. Our late-1800’s building was limited in access by steep steps going upstairs to the sanctuary, and downstairs to the fellowship hall and restrooms. The new addition, now fully completed, helps us better serve our congregation and surrounding community by providing accessibility and welcome for all. It includes a 3-level lift, a ground-level gathering space and restrooms, and is filled with southern light that pours through historic stained-glass windows moved from the original building. Your generous grant provides support as we walk into the future, following the call to continue sharing God’s love with our community and our world. Thank you for reaching out to our rural congregation in southern MN!
